as it ages, since its leather has lost some of its natural
oils and dried out a bit. Eventually this drying will lead
to cracking of the leather and excessive fur loss due to shedding.

basement does not offer the proper conditions for fur storage.
A cedar chest is never a good place for a fur coat. Not only

Cleaning
before storage is a must to keep furs fresh and supple for
the next season.
Glazing
is a process of bringing out the natural luster and sheen
of a fur after it has been cleaned. It involves a steaming
and ironing process that will vary with each type of fur.
Glazing will restore the life, luster and beauty of your garment.
Fur cleaning is performed by hand using a fine powder, which
consists of a mixture of ground walnut shells and corncobs.
This powder has a very mild cleaning agent added to it and
is delicately rubbed into the fur. The powder removes dirt
and excess oil from the coat. This process is the safest and
most efficient way of cleaning your fur.
The
special fur cleaning process also adds to the longevity of
your fur, makes it soft and supple, conditions the leather,
frees the fur of dust particles that rob your fur of its sheen.
The hairs become fluffy, so the coat looks new again. Sometimes
your fur might not look dirty, but it is. Dirt gets trapped
into the oils near the leather base of the fur, where it makes
the hairs stick together and causes a matted appearance. Fur
is hair, after all, and you know how your own hair needs cleaning.
Annual cleaning is a necessity even just makeup and dust can
rob your fur of its luster and sheen. Fur also absorbs smells,
such as those coming from your kitchen if your coat closet
is nearby. The cleaning and conditioning process revitalizes
it. Cleaning and glazing replace some of the oils in the leather,
so the fur does not’t become stiff. We also hand clean
the entire lining!

We
also have perfected a cleaning process for all fur-lined fabrics.
Our expert cleaners will expertly maintain your lined and
trimmed coats. Linings and shells will be expertly restored
to their original beauty. Remember, furs and fur-lined coats
must be cleaned and glazed each year regardless of use. The
back of the pelts is leather that must be moisturized annually
in order to prevent cracking and drying. Even when the
fur looks good on the outside, it needs care on the inside.
REPAIRS
AND ALTERATIONS
 MAKING
IMMEDIATE REPAIRS TO YOUR GARMENT WILL SAVE YOU MONEY IN THE
LONG RUN.
Webfurs
will inspect your fur and check the seams, particularly at
the shoulders, front, closure and pockets; check the lining
at the neck and sleeve and the entire back area where the
coat receives the most wear.
Rips
and tears are the most common repairs and require our furriers
to open the lining of the garment and reinforce the form area
and sew it back up. The repair won’t be visible from
the outside of the garment. In some cases where a spot has
been rubbed bare or hair has been torn from the leather, we
can patch in a matching piece of fur that is very hard for
the eye to detect. We always call you first with an estimate
before doing any repairs.
RESTYLING
and REMODELING
 WE
CAN REMODEL YOUR FUR TO KEEP IT IN STYLE.
While
your coats are in storage you may want to consider remodeling
or restyling work performed. When your favorite fur becomes
outdated, a new and modern look may be obtained through our
remodeling services.
Many
older coats can be made into beautiful sheared jackets, linings
for new fur-lined designs or cashmere trimmed garments at
a fraction of the cost of purchasing a new coat. We use the
finest imported fabrics from Italy. Shearing your old furs
make them look new again, while looking great at the same
time.
Remaking
your old furs is economical way to get further use out of
an out dated design. Our expert furriers will show you the
latest fashions and give you expert suggestions as to how
your old fur can give you many continued years of use. When

your fur is too tight on now and it’s been years since
you bought it.
We can release the garment in the body, sleeves or
shoulder area. With age the human body compacts upon the
spine and the shoulder blades and hips get broader, even
though you may still weigh the same. We can let out 2 inches
across the back, 2 inches across the bust, drop the armholes
an inch or more.

can shorten the length and restyle the body to a shape more
becoming like a jacket or stroller as well. We can also
alter the collar or sleeve in a simple manner so that it

FUR
CARE
- Never
store your fur in a plastic bag where air cannot circulate.
Furs like to breathe. Use padded hangers and avoid crushing
the fur.
- Never
leave your wet fur near a heater. It will cause the leather
to crack. Rather, let it dry naturally.
- Never
use sprays or cleaning fluids on your fur. Have them professionally
cleaned each year to insure many years of enjoyment.
- Try
not to rub the fur with handbags or packages as it can cause
wear spots. It’s best to have your fur cared for each
